Liam Smedley
Story Highlight
Liam hosts the Sunday morning Breakfast Show on Magic 1161.
Liam was born and raised in Hull, even though he might not sound it due to the elocution lessons his Mum made him have when he was 17.
Although he regularly goes to the gym to ensure that puppy fat from his childhood doesn’t return, he’s first to admit his spiritual home is on the sofa in front of the telly, preferably watching Doctor Who; it’s his dream to write an episode one day! However, the makers keep nicking his ideas before he has time to write them down you know-honestly! That one about the Dalek’s during the Blitz...Liam’s...idea!
Liam made his debut on Magic 1161 on Boxing Day 2010 where he famously mispronounced Roberta Flack as ‘Robert Flack.’
Now he’s back every Sunday morning 6am-10am to play you the best of the 60s, 70s and more including Doctor Cook, T-Rex’d and The Beagles.
You can become a member of the Early Bird Club between 6am-7am, just let Liam know what you’re doing up so early on a Sunday morning!
From 7am-8am it’s your chance to have a go at Sunday Morning Trivia, just a simple pub quiz question to get your brain going.
If you’re stuck on what to watch on TV on Sunday night, listen to Liam’s suggestions in ‘Pick of the Box’ after 8am.
In Quotathon, Liam will give you a famous quote, all you have to do is tell him who famously said it!
Oh and finally Liam loves writing about himself in the third person as you might be able to tell from this article, which is probably why he’s been writing and performing his own Stand Up Comedy since 2009. You can often find him doing a turn in various venues around East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
