Ben was born in Cleethorpes to parents from Northern Ireland and the East Midlands and spent his formative years in Grimsby. He now lives just outside Hull with his wife and two small kids.

His fascination with the world of radio began at the tender age of seven when his parents bought him a transistor radio and cassette recorder in a bid to keep him quiet. Unfortunately it had the opposite effect and resulted in his first limited broadcasts on Radio Bedroom.

Ben has worked for Magic 1161 and sister station Viking FM since 1989, and in that time has done just about everything including switching an entire radio station off by accident! These days he can be heard across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire on Saturday mornings between 6 and 10 am, or whenever anybody else wants a day off.

Ben is a bit of a self-confessed gadget freak, which is demonstrated by the many remote controls scattered around the living room. He can even set his video recorder from anywhere in the world over the Internet!  If it runs off batteries, plugs into a computer or attaches to the TV, then Ben either has it, or is saving up to get it!
