CARLS APPEAL UPDATE
Carl spent his 18th birthday in hospital, however after a series of gruelling treatment Carl finally went into remission! Christmas and New Year passed and things were looking more positive, until the Summer came and the cancer returned. Carl and his family were obviously very distressed, however Carls fighting spirit returned and he vowed to beat the cancer – Carl said he was too young to give up his life!
Finally, after a long battle, the NHS have agreed to pay for a new treatment for Carl! The treatment is a new drug which has been tested in America. Carl begins his treatment next week!
As you can imagine Carl and his Family are very relieved and they would like to send a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported them in there recent fundraising efforts!
All the funds raised in aid of Carls Appeal will now be donated, at Carls request to the Teenage Cancer Unit, Castle Hill Hospital who have suported Carl throughout his battle!
We would like to wish Carl the best of luck with his treatment and wil will keep the Cash for Kids Supporters updated on his progress!
Carls Appeal
Carl Watson is now 20 years old and was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 17. At the same time, Carl’s father was also battling Cancer.
Throughout the next few months Carl was in and of hospital, supported by his family and his girlfriend Lizzi. He tried to continue with his everyday life in the most normal, constructive way– he passed his driving test, went to snooker and took up judo. Carl went into remission for the 2nd time!
May 2011 came and Carls father unfortunately lost His battle with Cancer; the family also had more devastating news, when Carls cousin also lost his life and Carls Cancer returned for the 3rd time! This time the news was far worse then before, Carl was told he has 12 months to live.
Not wanting to give up Carl and his family have been researching alternative treatments. They have found a drug, NCN35 which is on the Nominated Patient Programme in America. The NHS will not pay for the drug as it is deemed to expensive so ‘Carls Appeal in association with Cash for Kids’ is aiming to raise the £48,000 needed for the drug.
Carl is determined to win his battle and isn’t ready to give up just yet (plus he has his eye on a new Corsa VXR that he wants to buy!)
